Hang in there Maggie! We aren’t set up for the general public, but hope the information is helpful. We are hoping that once the “Pete’s Adventure” film is complete that we can make it more widely available to help all kinds of children who are going through rough times. Another post you might want to look at is the “9 Steps to Avoid Compassion Fatigue Without Failing to Care” on our site. It gives some great advice on staying strong for your kids for the long haul.

I could relate to nr.3 and emphasize as well, the need to be the optimist tree when other trees are shaken, stirred, and the likes. Much like God, you never should expect that a person gives up on you, but is always encouraging or teaching you that good (or solid) is the best way forward, or the best way not to have you fallen by the wayside.

Thank you for this! My family has had many terrible things happen to us in a very short period of time now, including a truancy court case and brain surgery, and the strain is really showing in all of us. These steps will not only help us begin reaching out to our children, but wil also help us learn to deal with our own fears. Is there an OperstionSAFE in San Antonio, TX?I'll take a look on your site after posting this. We've already begun therapy with a psychologist, but every little bit of extra care helps.

Thank you for this. These 5 things can help every child develop a sense of themselves so strong that they can withstand anything. As an adult with PTSD stemming from childhood I am currently struggling most with lessons 4 & 5. To teach a child that sometimes the most courageous thing they can do is ask a question is wonderful! Reaching out in that way is frightening when you have never felt completely safe. Thank you for looking out for our kids.

My son also is struggling with learning disability and it has been a major challenge for him. So hard for parents to know what is going on inside even their own children’s hearts. But never to late to affirm to children that they are not alone.
